Important news regarding supported devices

The devices we support are changing.

As you know technology moves quickly, each year Apple and other phone and tablet companies update both their hardware and software. For Powered Now to be available in the various App Stores we need to react to this by continuously updating our app to work with the updates from Apple and Google (iOS and Android).

This does mean however that as we are updating our apps we also have to adjust our supported device lists. With the latest release of Powered Now (v8.5.3) we are removing some devices that can not be updated with the latest versions of iOS and Android.

Our new policy for Apple devices is to support products that are upto a maximum of four years old and are running on the latest versions of iOS (version 14), this means that we are dropping support for the following phones:

  • iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
  • iPhone SE (gen 1)
  •  iPhone 6s and 6s Plus
  • And all iPhones below this

iPads are a little more complicated as they have some strange name and numbers, however we are dropping support for the 1st to 4th generation. You can learn which version you have by visiting this link.

Some of the common iPads that will be dropped include:

  • iPad mini 4
  • iPad Air 2
  • And all iPads below

You can tell which version of your iPhone or iPad you have by visiting settings on your device, choosing about, the model and version of the software you are running is displayed here.

Please note if you have a supported device but have not updated your device to iOS14 we can not support this. It it really important for your security and smooth running of your phone and apps that you keep your devices updated.

For Android we will continue to support all devices that can run Android 9 and up, however we also encourage you to make sure you are on the latest version.

For multi user accounts please make sure all devices on the account are within this four year window and are updated to both the latest version of your operating system and Powered Now.

If this change affects you please note that a new 2020 iPad can be purchased directly from Apple for under £400. We also have a number of sales offers with Powered Now that include a new 2020 iPad model. Please contact us for further details.
