The summer lockdown has resulted in Brits clamouring for bathroom and kitchen projects post-lockdown, with 1.8million consumers starting new renovations, according to research by PoweredNow.

Mobile-based billing, invoicing and quotation application Powered Now has found 18% of Brits are commencing home improvement projects and 20% of these are bathroom or kitchen installations – equating to more than 1.8million renovations.

COVID continues to have an influence on kitchen and bathroom projects with 20% of consumers agreeing the threat of a second wave has influenced them to start renovations sooner rather than later.

And 60% agreed that despite Coronavirus, they won’t postpone bathroom and kitchen work because of a reluctance to have other people in their house.

CEO of Powered Now Ben Dyer commented: “As the weather turns colder, Brits will commence their final indoor renovations before the winter sets in.

“Ensuring that homes are as comfortable as they can be, new bathrooms and kitchens form essential parts of a home’s character and comfortability. We are expecting one final push of trade in the coming month in these sectors.

“While the whole industry is still in catch-up mode and projects delayed by the lockdown are taking priority, it has helped to spike demand and we expect it to continue in the short term.

“Our research has very much confirmed that Brits were eager to have home improvement jobs completed post-lockdown, treating themselves to a little home-based TLC.

“Our SME customers are also talking about the pressure to complete jobs as people worry about a second wave.

“As we have seen from the sentiments established in this research, this could in fact help the trades bounce back even quicker as people will rush to hire a tradesperson for their desired work.”

This research reflects the findings in a Houzz Survey which reported an 80% increase in home project leads in July.
